1. MODULE No. EAT-01 : REPAIR & MAINTENANCE OF DOMESTIC APPLIANCES

Working principle, operation, possible faults, symptoms, fault detection rectification, maintenance & spares required for toaster, electric iron, convector, electric oven, immersion heater, hot plate , geyser, electric chimney, vacuum cleaner, hair drier, desert cooler, blender, mixer, grinder, refrigerator, water pump, water purifier, washing machine, dish washer and microwave oven.

2. MODULE No. EAT – 02: REPAIR & MAINTENANCE OF INSTRUMENTS USED IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Construction, working principle, operation, merits & demerits of Moving iron/Moving Coil type Voltmeter & ammeter, Digital voltmeter & ammeter, Wattmeter, Energy meter, Frequency meter, Multimeter, Meggar, oscilloscope, Phase sequence meter, Synchroscope, Earth tester., Tri-vector meter , Lux meter, power supply monitor. Analog Electronics, devices, circuits, ICs, Signal injector, Digital electronics: Number system, code conversion, Logic gates, flip-flops, ICs, clock pulse generator, DC power supplies.

3. MODULE No. EAT — 03: OPERATION & MAINTENANCE OF EQUIPMENTS USED IN HIGH TENSION LINE, LOW TENSION LINE, SUBSTATION & CABLE JOINING

Introduction to transmission of electric power, Methods of power transmission, AC, DC, Over head lines & under ground lines, advantages & disadvantages, Mechanical aspects of overhead lines. Under ground cables for high voltage transmission XLPE, oil filled, high pressure cables, gas filled, HSL type cable. Trouble shooting of MOCB, ACB, SF6, VCB, Protective devices - fuse cutouts, recloser circuit breaker, sectionalizer., Relays: Types, operation, setting, testing & maintenance over current, Over voltage & under voltage, earth fault, Differential, Buchholz,s relay, Impedance relay, Frequency relay and safety in high voltage.

4. MODULE No. EAT — 04: NON-CONVENTIONAL POWER GENERATION, BATTERY & INVERTER

Conventional methods of generating electricity, Merits & demerits, Choice between AC & DC, Low voltage & High voltage, Hydro electric power generating stations, Thermal power generating stations, Nuclear power generating stations. Power generation by non-conventional and renewable energy: solar, wind, biomass, tidal waves, micro hydel. Operation and maintenance of DG set, battery, fuel cell, hydro-oxygen cell. Types, construction, working, testing & protection circuits Inverters. Routine & preventive maintenance of equipments used in renewable power generation.

5. MODULE No. EAT — 05: REPAIR & MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRICAL MACHINE & POWER SUPPLY

Types, Construction, working principle, starting methods, characteristics, speed & torque control, change of rotation, braking methods, applications of DC Machines, 3 phase AC motors, Single phase AC motors, Servo motors and stepper motors, iph & 3ph transformers. Protection circuits used in power supply, AC voltage stabilizer (manual & automatic). PWM control technique- Types SMPS Circuits & Types —Construction, working principle, block diagrams & circuit diagrams, UPS- Off line. Elimination of fault, Spare parts requirement, Fault finding & remedies of Electrical machines, DC power supplies, AC power supplies, UPS & SMPS, DC & AC Drives, Understanding diagnostic software.
